International Betta Contest – Dortmund 2011

In the trade fair “Hund & Heimtier” in the Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany, an international IBC sanctioned betta contest takes place from 06.to 08. May 2011 "for the first time".



It will be judged by the standards for Betta splendens breeding forms according to the guidelines of the IBC (International Betta Congress).

Each breeder can participate.
To make it easier to entry for new breeder, we have the Newbreeder classes.


The judging of the Showbetta takes place on Friday the 06 May 2011. All show fish must be delivered and placed in their boxes on Thursday the 05 May 2011 between 17:00 and 19:30 o’clock.

Please note: In Dortmund we have, also for the first time, the Class E2 PAIRS, where you can show a male and a sibling female together.

(“The Bettas are judged as a unit, not as individuals. Ideally the pair is compatible in size with the female being slightly smaller than the male. The pair must exhibit the ability to be a genuinely compatible pair for breeding.
Entries in this classification are comprised of a male and a female with the emphasis on breed ability – to perpetuate that type of Betta. Pair entries desirably will exhibit the best traits and characteristics for their type.
The intent of this class is to exhibit the best breedable pair. (without regarding the genetic background, i.e. infertility of black females or DT X DT”)

The show in Dortmund is the second round for the annual Cup "Master of the Year 2011".

This price is determined by a points system which refers to the placement in all the shows of the " Kampffischfreunde " after the last competition in 2011(the date is not decided yet). The winner receives a certificate and his name with the year is engraved on the base of the trophy, "Master of the Year ". This trophy will be placed in full view at all shows of the " Kampffischfreunde ".
